The next installment of the Dragon Quest series looks far sunnier and brighter than the previous look we had back in 2021

Square Enix issued a significant update on Dragon Quest 12 today, giving fans a quick look at the long-awaited RPG sequel. The Japanese company also dropped the bombshell that the game’s development was restarted from scratch. As a result, Dragon Quest 12's original subtitle, The Flames of Fate, was ditched in favor of Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams.

While some fans are still holding out hope for a financial savior to sweep in and save Nagoshi Studios' debut title, Gang of Dragon, more small details have emerged from print and social media this week that paint a very unpleasant picture of the studio's fate.
