Evolve or Die

The new Halo: Campaign Evolved looks terrible on low-end hardware like the Steam Deck and Xbox Ally, with worse image quality than the older Master Chief Collection. If you want to play Halo handheld, you're better off with the older game.

When Master Chief first sets foot on the unknown ringworld known as Halo, he is fighting for his life. Halo: Campaign Evolved speaks to the series' timelessness and adds a decent set of new missions, but it's a mostly a lean retread that's clearly a test run for its future with Unreal Engine.

A neat, but fundamentally flawed remake that doesn't always understand the appeal of Halo.
