Nintendo announced Mario Kart Tour will reach end of service in Sep. 2026, but Fire Emblem Heroes lives on

Nintendo has updated Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart Tour with new routes for its Knockout Tour mode, as part of a surprise update.

Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally have been added to Mario Kart World as part of update 1.7.0, alongside stickers in photo mode.

Nintendo has announced that it will shut down Mario Kart Tour on September 29, ending its seven-year run on mobile devices. Originally launching in September 2019, Mario Kart Tour was one of several games released for mobile devices as Nintendo made a push into that space. Most of those games have since been shut down, but Mario Kart Tour proved to be a lucrative spin-off of the main series, employing controversial gacha game mechanics to keep players invested the racer. Nintendo just released a new update for Mario Kart World on Switch 2 that added some fresh races alongside other features. The update, version 1.7.0, chiefly expands the number of available Knockout Tour routes with the addition of Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally. Read more
