Modern Warfare 4 is bringing back a vastly improved DMZ mode later this year and it looks phenomenal, with inspiration from other extraction shooters.

DMZ mode returns for Modern Warfare 4, bringing back Call of Duty's take on the "high-risk for high-reward" extraction shooter genre. Infinity Ward is expanding on the features from the original DMZ, and Modern Warfare 4 includes a new "GTA-like" Wanted system, making it a lot riskier to play loud. DMZ's Hajin map is a hostile territory, where players want to loot and make a successful extraction with all their valuables and gear. If you've played the Call of Duty games in recent years--arguably any of them past the first handful--then you know the games tend to star heroes with near-superhuman reflexes, athletic abilities, and rapid decision-making. For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward is taking a step back, partially, from these larger-than-life heroes and putting you back in the boots of a regular "grunt" soldier.
