Modern Warfare 4 is bringing back a vastly improved DMZ mode later this year and it looks phenomenal, with inspiration from other extraction shooters.

DMZ mode returns for Modern Warfare 4, bringing back Call of Duty's take on the "high-risk for high-reward" extraction shooter genre. Infinity Ward is expanding on the features from the original DMZ, and Modern Warfare 4 includes a new "GTA-like" Wanted system, making it a lot riskier to play loud. DMZ's Hajin map is a hostile territory, where players want to loot and make a successful extraction with all their valuables and gear. If you've played the Call of Duty games in recent years--arguably any of them past the first handful--then you know the games tend to star heroes with near-superhuman reflexes, athletic abilities, and rapid decision-making. For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward is taking a step back, partially, from these larger-than-life heroes and putting you back in the boots of a regular "grunt" soldier. Popping Locust heads and active reloading has never looked better than in Gears of War: E-Day, but this prequel is also making some big changes to how you'll move through the campaign. Movement has received a massive overhaul in the prequel, as Marcus Fenix and the rest of his squad can get around all manner of obstacles to reposition themselves while in combat.
