New Super Mario Kart 2

Playtonic Games has announced Super Yooka-Laylee Kart, a retro arcade racer fuelled by a new revenge mechanic, as well as SNES vibes.

Just like Mario and Donkey Kong before it, the Yooka-Laylee franchise is expanding to a new genre: kart racing. Playtonic Games announced Super Yooka-Laylee Kart during the Summer Game Fest as part of Day of the Devs 2026.  A debut trailer showed off the racer, which looks very similar in style to classic kart racers like the original Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Nintendo has updated Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart Tour with new routes for its Knockout Tour mode, as part of a surprise update.

Despite being the Switch 2's leading launch game, Mario Kart World hasn't gotten much in terms of proper new content. But update 1.7.0 just dropped for the game, and it adds two Knockout Tour routes for players to burn rubber on. The Drill Rally starts at Wario Shipyard and ends in Bowser's Castle, while the Boomerang Rally extends from Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit. Nintendo's website mentions that additional routes will be added in future updates, and the game's menu indicates that six more are on the way.
