John Buckley, the outspoken communications lead for Palworld developer Pocketpair, has commented on the hot-button issue of AI in gaming. Speaking to GamesRadar, Buckley said, "Gamers don't want it. And if the gamers don't want it, I guess that's it, right? Not much of a conversation to be had." Using AI technologies for game development is "not really for us," Buckley said. He went on to say he understands some companies are employing AI systems to help save time. Nintendo's decision to host a Nintendo Direct this June befuddles me. The virtual showcase wasn't terrible, but it certainly didn't wow me either. Deltarune is very cool, so it was nice to see a release date for Chapter 5, and I'm sure plenty of folks are thrilled to jump back into Pokemon Pokopia with its new expansion pass. But the games that would have been this Direct's big hitters, Kingdom Hearts IV and a remake for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, got extremely short teasers that didn't drum up much hype (for me, anyway). If there’s a bridge between the unbridled horror of Resident Evil Requiem and the somewhat more accessible gateway horror of FNAF Security Breach, Don’t Fret might be it. It’s legitimately terrifying, but the fear I experienced was mostly couched in dread and anticipation. As a humanoid guitar, dying isn’t an exercise in gore and excessive violence, as there is no blood or entrails to be seen. That doesn’t mean I appreciated being ripped to pieces, but it looked cool enough that I couldn't be that mad either.
