Capcom has revealed a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, delighting fans of the franchise watching this year's Summer Game Fest livestream.

A new trailer for Weapons and Barbarian director Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie has arrived, providing a new look at the scary video game adaptation. In this new trailer, we see the medical courier Bryan (Austin Abrams) at a hospital where he takes on a new job where he must ferry organs to "Raccoon City General," a hospital "outside the zone." The 2026 Summer Game Fest showcase kicked off with another Resi remake.

According to Capcom's latest quarterly earnings report, Resident Evil 2 surpassed Resident Evil 5 in sales after reaching 19.75 million copies.

Just like (well, not just like) the original 2000 game, Resident Evil: Veronica will be played from a third-person perspective. The news was shared with GameSpot during a group Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, which is also where Capcom officially announced the game to the public. The original Resident Evil: Code Veronica was also played in third-person--just like most of the older Resident Evil games--but it utilized the clunkier "tank" controls of the PlayStation originals. For Resident Evil: Veronica, GameSpot was told the closest gameplay corollary would be the Resident Evil 2 remake.
