Activision and Toys for Bob announce Spyro: A Realm Beyond for Switch 2, PS5, PC, and Xbox at summer game event Xbox Games Showcase 2026.

The first new Spyro game in over 20 years was officially revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase today. Developed by Toys for Bob, Spyro: A Realm Beyond sees the iconic purple dragon return in 2027, along with longtime Spyro voice actor Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants). With it being a long time since Spyro officially headlined his very own game, Toys for Bob has chosen to age the dragon up a little, as well as give him free rein to fly amongst the clouds, not just glide through them or be constrained to a handful of flight levels. Toys for Bob revealed Spyro: A Realm Beyond during Xbox Games Showcase with a short teaser trailer and a glimpse of gameplay. This is the first original Spyro game in nearly 20 years, and it features the return of Tom Kenny as the voice of Spyro and a first in the series: "true dragon flight."

The Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon is back on June 21 on HBO, with a new trailer promising fire, blood, and dragons.
