Supergirl mixes a great performance from Milly Alcock with too many half-hearted influences to fly by itself. While Kara's dynamic with her on-screen cousin Superman paints a bright future for the DCU, her solo outing never finds a super-entertaining rhythm.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's sorts of local, intra-character problems are the most relatable, which is perhaps why all four Spider-Man films in the MCU have clicked so well with me while so many others – particularly recent ones – haven’t.
