Sony’s big State of Play announcement was God of War Laufey, the next game in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War franchise due out exclusively for PlayStation 5. While the fact the game would focus on Faye as opposed to Kratos had leaked months before the showcase, it’s fair to say Sony’s 20 minute gameplay reveal sparked a vociferous reaction across the internet.

God of War Laufey was only just announced, but already fans of the series have theories about what will happen, and they don't sound too far-fetched.

The biggest news to come out of PlayStation's State of Play wasn't just that there was a new God of War game, but that Kratos was sitting this one out and his wife, Faye, was taking the starring role.

The next God of War title had been rumored earlier this year, and it now stands revealed as God of War Laufey, a spin-off that focuses on Kratos' late wife, Faye. While the initial trailer apparently disclosed when Laufey takes place, the developers behind the game have offered more light about how the upcoming title fits in with Kratos' adventures. Faye's story in the afterlife of the gods begins almost immediately after Kratos and their child, Atreus, laid her to rest in the 2018 God of War. During an interview with IGN, Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog appeared to suggest t
