Sony’s big State of Play announcement was God of War Laufey, the next game in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War franchise due out exclusively for PlayStation 5. While the fact the game would focus on Faye as opposed to Kratos had leaked months before the showcase, it’s fair to say Sony’s 20 minute gameplay reveal sparked a vociferous reaction across the internet.

The rumors about a new God of War game proved to be true during Sony's latest State of Play event. That's why the reveal of God of War Laufey wasn't unexpected. What was a surprise was its cubic, talking, gelatin-like companion character, Phranque (as voiced by The Boys' Jack Quaid), is the character who turned out to be the breakout star of State of Play. A movie based on Sega's Streets of Rage video game has been in the works for years, and now the latest development has unfolded. John Wick creator Derek Kolstad is no longer writing the movie, with Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller taking over. Additionally, Jeymes Samuel is now attached to direct the movie. Casey and Miller wrote all three Sonic the Hedgehog movies so far, and are returning for the fourth. in 2027. The three movies have together made more than $1.2 billion at the box office. Lionsgate movie boss Erin Westerman said the Streets of Rage movie "demanded a bold
