Still, from the other three launch factions, to the campaign mode, to even how larger matches will play out, all remain as much of a mystery as the release date for Winds of Winter. But for fans that have been hungry for some base-building, PlaySide looks poised to deliver quite the feast.

It's still going to be a while before Game of Thrones: War for Westeros arrives, but at Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer Playside showed off some gameplay make the wait a little bit easier. First announced in 2025--and originally scheduled for a 2026 launch--Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is a real-time strategy game that features several of the franchise's legendary Houses--Lannister, Stark, and Targaryen--as well as the sinister forces of the Night King. The next Game of Thrones game, the RTS War for Westeros, has been delayed. The PC game was originally set for release in 2026, but developer Playside has announced that it's been delayed to "early 2027." Warner Bros. Games and HBO have released a new Game of Thrones game. Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is a free-to-play mobile game based on the prequel series House of the Dragon.
