The summer wave of video game announcements is nearly upon us, with a PlayStation State of Play, Summer Game Fest Live, and an Xbox Showcase already scheduled within a six-day span of one another. A new Sonic Racing: Crossworlds trailer has unveiled some unexpected crossovers, including with classic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. All 52 users who have written Sonic/Eva fanfiction on the hosting website Archive Of Our Own took a collective breath in. The brand deal was revealed as part of a Sonic 35th anniversary hype reel at Summer Game Fest 2026. The trailer showed other, perhaps more predictable collaborations like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem, upcoming fighting game Avatar Legends, and monster icon Godzilla. As part of today's Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, the latest entry in its series that has so far included Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resorts, Wii Sports Club, and Nintendo Switch Sports. The new game has 12 sports in all, including an unexpected one: thumb-wrestling. The game launches on October 22, exclusively for Switch 2.
