God of War Laufey was only just announced, but already fans of the series have theories about what will happen, and they don't sound too far-fetched.

Until now, Kratos was the primary star of every God of War game. However, his late wife, Faye, is taking the spotlight in God of War Laufey. But when Faye picks up her sword, veteran God of War fans may recognize the influence that the original Greek trilogy had on her fighting style. Sony’s big State of Play announcement was God of War Laufey, the next game in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War franchise due out exclusively for PlayStation 5. While the fact the game would focus on Faye as opposed to Kratos had leaked months before the showcase, it’s fair to say Sony’s 20 minute gameplay reveal sparked a vociferous reaction across the internet.

The rumors about a new God of War game proved to be true during Sony's latest State of Play event. That's why the reveal of God of War Laufey wasn't unexpected. What was a surprise was its cubic, talking, gelatin-like companion character, Phranque (as voiced by The Boys' Jack Quaid), is the character who turned out to be the breakout star of State of Play.
